How does Dezu prepare ship hulls and decks?
With high and ultra high pressure water blasting — by hand lance on decks and structures, and by VertiDrive magnetic crawler robots on vertical steel. The crawlers grip the hull magnetically and strip coating in continuous passes, faster and more consistent than staging crews on ropes, with no abrasive grit left on the vessel or in the water.
What marine work has Dezu delivered?
In 2022, Dezu removed anti-skid (ASA) coating from the decks of USNS Big Horn and USNS Yukon — two US Navy vessels — by water blasting surface preparation. Navy-grade deck work is the proof standard for marine surface preparation.
Why water blasting instead of grit blasting on a vessel?
Water leaves no spent abrasive to sweep from the deck, dispose of, or fish out of the harbor, and it washes soluble salts off the steel — the contaminant that shortens coating life when grit blasting leaves it behind. On ships, that means cleaner surveys and repaints that last.
