How does Dezu prepare ship hulls and decks?
With high and ultra high pressure water blasting — by hand lance on decks and structures, and by VertiDrive magnetic crawler robots on vertical steel. The crawlers grip the hull magnetically and strip coating in continuous passes, under remote control. Water-only blasting adds no blasting abrasive, while removed coating and water still require containment.
What marine work has Dezu delivered?
In 2022, Dezu removed anti-skid (ASA) coating from the decks of USNS Big Horn and USNS Yukon — two US Navy vessels — by water blasting surface preparation. The completed deck work is a project reference, not a general certification of every marine application.
Why water blasting instead of grit blasting on a vessel?
Water-only blasting introduces no blasting abrasive and can remove soluble salts and existing coatings. It does not create a new steel profile. Removed material and water still need containment, and the surface must meet the coating specification, including contaminant and flash-rust checks. The method alone does not guarantee coating life.
