Heat exchanger tube cleaning contractor for plant shutdowns
Dezu is a heat exchanger tube cleaning contractor in the Philippines — tube bundle cleaning, condenser tube cleaning, and descaling with high pressure water lancing that recovers flow and heat transfer toward design, inside shutdown windows, day and night shifts. An HPAL nickel refinery has brought Dezu back for every minor and major shutdown since 2023, six shutdowns and counting, because the scale that defeats other methods is the scale we are hired for.
Is this the same as tube bundle cleaning, condenser tube cleaning, or descaling?
Yes — one service, several industry names. What plants call tube bundle cleaning, condenser tube cleaning, boiler tube cleaning, or heat exchanger descaling is the same work: driving high pressure water through each tube to strip scale and fouling from the tube wall. Dezu's lancing systems clean shell and tube bundles, condensers, and boiler tubes alike — delivered on exchanger bundles across six HPAL nickel refinery shutdowns since 2023.
How does high pressure water clean heat exchanger tubes?
Flexible lances and rigid lances drive high pressure water through each tube, stripping scale and fouling from the tube wall and cutting the bore back toward bare metal. Water reaches the full circumference of every tube without mechanical scraping, so tube walls are cleaned rather than worn — and flow and heat transfer recover toward design performance.
Can Dezu hold a shutdown schedule?
That is the work Dezu is retained for. An HPAL nickel refinery has brought Dezu back for every minor and major shutdown since its 2023 major shutdown — six shutdowns delivered to date — because our crews descale the exchangers and equipment that defeat conventional methods or consume the plant's own maintenance resources. Crews run day and night shifts to give tubes back inside the window.
What fouling can be removed?
Mineral scale, process deposits, polymerized product, and hard sulfide scale — the fouling classes found in geothermal, mineral processing, refinery, and petrochemical exchangers. Where fouling is extreme, ultra high pressure equipment up to 40,000 PSI from the NLB line Dezu distributes does the work mechanical cleaning cannot.
How clean do tubes need to be for inspection (IRIS or eddy current)?
Cleaner than a production clean. Probe methods like IRIS read the tube wall through whatever is left on it, so inspection work specifies a near-bare bore — a deliberate cleanliness grade that has to be named in the cleaning scope before the shutdown starts. A production clean returns the exchanger to service; an inspection clean prepares tubes for the probe. Dezu delivers either grade, agreed up front, so the inspection crew never arrives to tubes their probes cannot read.
Can Dezu verify the cleaning or support tube inspection?
Cleaning verification is already standard practice on every Dezu tube job: full-bore passage is proven tube by tube with the cleaning tool itself and recorded on tube maps — acceptance is never sampled. On request, Dezu also supports 100% acoustic pulse reflectometry (APR) screening as part of a cleaning scope, which validates the cleaning and flags tubes with restrictions or wall loss so IRIS or eddy current can be targeted where they earn their time. Completion estimates for screening are issued after scope review.
What tube cleaning work has Dezu delivered?
Heat Exchanger Tube Cleaning — Geothermal Binary Plant (2026)
All 4,106 preheater and vaporizer tubes of a binary plant's heat exchangers cleaned in a single pass and accepted ten days after Day 1. Water jetting ran as the shutdown's critical path — completed in about a third of the previous first-pass duration on the same equipment.
Emergency Exchanger Re-Clean — Geothermal Binary Plant (2026)
2,908 vaporizer tubes brought to overall flow-test acceptance plus 1,126 preheater tubes, cleaned in an emergency window on dual shifts.
Shutdown Cleaning Program — HPAL Nickel Refinery (2023–2026)
High pressure cleaning at every minor (March) and major (September) shutdown since the 2023 major shutdown — six shutdowns delivered to date, retained on the plant's turnaround calendar.
Reactor Tank Descaling for Plant Decommissioning (2026)
Five months of mixed sulfide descaling at a second HPAL facility — read the full case study. See all delivered work at projects.
Cleaning for inspection — the guides
When integrity testing follows the cleaning, cleanliness decides what the inspection can see. Two source-cited guides cover the interaction: tube inspection after cleaning (production clean vs inspection clean, cleaning validation, 100% APR screening) and IRIS vs eddy current vs APR (what each method sees, what each needs, and when each wins).
