Jetvac vs high pressure water jetting for drainage declogging
Compare the actual equipment package against the deposit, pipe condition, access, water supply and extraction requirement. A combination truck includes jetting and vacuum equipment on one chassis; a separate arrangement allows those functions to be sized independently. Neither pipe diameter nor pressure alone decides which will clear the line or cost less. Historical guidance and OEM specifications support a scope review.
How do the two machines compare?

Combination-unit figures are published standard and optional configurations for representative units as of 2026; individual builds vary. Jetting-train figures are manufacturer rated figures for the model classes in Dezu's fleet, and the pressure and flow point is configured to the deposit at mobilization (see the equipment page).
How does a jetvac combination truck work, and what is it good at?
A combination sewer cleaner, in the Philippines often called a combi truck, vacuum truck, or siphoning truck, puts a jetting pump, a vacuum blower, a debris body, and a water tank on one chassis. The jetting pump is built for sewer flushing. Published specs for representative units, the Vactor 2100i, the Sewer Equipment Model 900 ECO, and the Kaiser AquaStar, run roughly 2,000–3,000 psi (140–200 bar) at 55–120 gpm. That is the right water end for moving silt and organics down a line. High flow conveys loose material toward the access point, and the onboard blower and debris body load what arrives there. For routine desilting and declogging of main drainage lines, drainage inlets, and catch basins, this is exactly the machine the duty calls for, which is why utilities and maintenance crews standardize on it.
How does the decoupled jetting train work?
Dezu can scope drainage cleaning with a standalone industrial jetting unit and separate vacuum extraction. Jetting loosens and conveys deposits; extraction collects the removed material. Their capacities and sequence must be coordinated with access, water supply, collection, discharge and site conditions. Separate machines do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
The jetting side is an NLB 225-series industrial pump system with convertible fluid ends. The same power frame runs from 8,000 psi at 49 gpm to 20,000 psi at 23 gpm, with higher pressure classes above that, and the pressure and flow point is configured to the deposit. High flow conveys loose material; high pressure cuts hardened scale. The cutting head is selected to the measured pipe, not the nominal size. Rotary unpluggers open fully blocked lines, self-rotating cutting heads take scale off the pipe wall, and large-pipe rotary heads with centralizers and extension arms work lines up to roughly 37 inches of measured clear bore. Dezu is StoneAge's Authorized Distributor — Philippines and runs the same tooling it sells; the pump and tooling estate is on the equipment page, and the service behind it is hydro jetting.
Loosening deposits is only part of cleaning. The scope must identify how the removed material reaches a collection point and how it will leave the site. Confirm the extraction package and responsibility instead of assuming that every jetting quotation includes it.
What is the one-chassis trade-off?
A shared chassis creates weight, space and power constraints, but these vary by model and configuration. Combination units can provide both jetting and vacuum functions, and some can operate them simultaneously. Compare the actual pressure-and-flow combination, tooling, vacuum capacity, tanks and site access. A separate pump is not automatically more suitable because it occupies its own chassis.
When does the jetvac actually win?
A combination unit may suit routine maintenance when its tooling, jetting capability and extraction package match the deposits and access. NASSCO describes combination trucks as an option for smaller-diameter sewer cleaning; that is not a universal price or diameter cutoff. Compare the complete mobilization and work scope.
When does the decoupled train win?
Consider a separate package when a defined deposit-removal or extraction requirement is better met by independently selected equipment. Previous failed cleaning, substantial deposits or difficult access justify investigation; they do not establish that one equipment class must succeed where another failed.
NASSCO's heavy-cleaning and large-diameter guidance discusses changes in debris volume, removal methods and extraction planning. Its diameter examples provide context, not a boundary at which every combination unit stops working or every separate system becomes economical. Flood-control assets also require review of their own geometry, flow and condition. See the drainage maintenance page for flood-control infrastructure.
What has Dezu actually delivered on these deposits?
The deposits that block flood-control drainage, hardened scale, compacted silt, and construction debris, are the deposits Dezu removes for a living. In 2022, a fully clogged drainage line affecting a VIP area at a major airport terminal was cleared by hydro jetting, and as of 2026 Dezu has never been called back for the same problem. The case is evidence of a completed cleaning scope, not a guarantee against future blockage: see the delivered project. The industrial record runs on the same deposit physics at industrial pressure classes. Five months removing mixed sulfide scale from a brick-lined reactor vessel. Six consecutive shutdown descaling campaigns retained because Dezu removes buildup others could not. Geothermal pipe internals restored with before-and-after bore photos. None of that is delivered flood-control interceptor work, and this page does not claim it is; it is proof of the cutting end of the method, on the deposit classes that defeat flushing. The full register is at delivered projects.
Can a jetvac combination truck clear hardened scale from a drainage line?
Suitability depends on the deposit, pipe condition, access and the actual pump and tooling configuration. A combination truck can use specialized cleaning attachments; its pressure rating alone does not prove that it will succeed or fail. For deposits that previous cleaning could not remove, review the obstruction and select a compatible method, with a trial where needed.
Why run a separate jetting unit and a separate vacuum unit instead of one combination truck?
Separate equipment lets the jetting and extraction packages be selected independently. The work still depends on water supply, collection capacity, discharge arrangements, access and coordination. Some combination units can jet and vacuum together. Neither arrangement guarantees continuous full-capacity work or eliminates waiting.
Which is more economical for drainage declogging, a jetvac or a decoupled jetting train?
Compare complete quotations for the same cleaning and acceptance scope. A combination unit can reduce the number of machines to mobilize, while a separate package can suit a particular tooling or extraction requirement. Pipe diameter alone does not establish the cheaper option. Deposit, access, waste volume, transport and expected duration all matter.

Not sure which machine your line needs?
Send the pipe size, a CCTV survey if you have one, and what has already been tried on the line. If a jetvac will clear it, we will say so; if further review is needed, we will identify the information or trial needed to scope the work.
